About Me

Ever since I was a kid, I've always been fascinated with fictional media.  I play games, watch TV, and read manga, like most internet dwellers.  But there has always been one type that has always struck my fancy: Shonen.  I watch a lot of shonen anime, play a lot of shonen games, watch shonen anime based on games and games based on shonen.

Shonen is a word I use differently from most people.  While the technical definition of shonen refers to the demographic, it's a word I use to describe the type of media that heavily uses shonen media's usual trappings or are directly influenced by shonen series.  This can be a traditional anime or manga like Fist of the North Star and Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple, or a game like the Asura's Wrath or Sengoku Basara.

I'm a journalism graduate and freelance writer with a particular fondness toward writing about things like these for about 7 years now.  I decided to put my writing and knowledge out on display and share my love of games and anime with this little blog.  I always love good writing and fun games, but I like to tell people about them even more.  I hope you find the Shonen Otaku Corner both informative and entertaining.

I greatly appreciate and encourage any comments and criticism.  If you would like to contact me with any questions or you would like to see my resume, please e-mail me at shonenotaku1@gmail.com.

  1. I don’t like your writing, it feels trashy, very childlike responses in general and I see that you have no kind of consistency or understanding from the basis of your own social media account. You constantly say rude words to others who doesn’t see your own viewpoint, and you write about nonsense trivial stupid shit that just doesn’t work in this kind of diverse industry. The things that you write about which “Shonen Games” are as you may call it are practically called fighting or adventure or action games. Also please do not use “Otaku” in your namesake, Japanese people get made fun of day after day and constantly bullied by poor examples of an anime fan such as yourself. You are the problem that makes me actually believe that cultural appropriation is real, you have no respect for others it’s showing tremendously on your work. I recommend you actually find yourself a real career choice, because this isn’t working out for you.

    1. I appreciate the criticism. I just wish I could chat with you somewhere to go over it in more detail with specific examples. I stand by my name though. I don't mean "otaku" in any derogatory term, nor do most other people that use it and some of the sillier aspects of being an anime fan are meant to be ironic, but I get Poe's Law can apply and it might not come off that way. And I call them shonen games because a lot of them are the kind of games that are greatly inspired by shonen or uses many of its conventions. Those are the games I often really get into.
If you can leave some comments in specific articles that point out particular instances of nonsense and especially having no respect for others. I don't mean to be disrespectful.... Except to racists, pedophiles and the like, obviously.
