TV Edits of the Viewtiful Joe Anime: Episode 7

Episode 7 is where the Viewtiful Joe anime starts really deviating from the game and gets original.  Villains of all the previous episodes, with the exception of the biker gang, all came from the game, but this one starts the first in a series of new villains for Joe to fight.  I also remember this episode airing much later than its episode number, being aired closer to when the season finale aired, but I could be remembering wrong.

In this episode, a weirdo mascot man gives away telepathic head creatures called Slugoon to all the kids in town, but of course they're actually evil mind control monsters.  This is going to be a very short post because it's almost uncut.  Almost.

When one of the kids shoves his mother, a shot of the mother falling through the air from the push is replaced with a quick cut of speed lines in the English version.  Maybe that shove was so hard it was distressing.  You could genuinely kill someone if you shove them hard enough to send them flying.

In Japanese the name of the villan seems to be Black Toybox, but the English name is Rotten Jack: The Toxic Toybox.  I like the English name more.

After Jack is defeated, Sprocket crushes her communication device in the Japanese version.  Since it's a close-up on her outfit, the English version cuts that out.

After Joe and Junior ship Jack and the Slugoons back for returns, a bit is cut where Joe makes a little remark while holding up his handsign and they watch the kids around town walk away with their parents.  This episode has changed so little that they had to cut something for time so it might as well be the hand they would have to edit and a lingering shot.

That's it.  The changes are extremely negligible.  There aren't even any hit flashes because part of the plot is Joe not wanting to hit the kids.  This was an easy post.
